If you potentially ask a question in French the way the book/audio has instructed you to and you than get a response back from the person you asked the question too, and than what happens if that person responds and also asks you a question in return. In hindsight and to a certain extent it is. What is the weather like today. Of course, if you listen to it non-stop and read the book that is included with the audio CD, you will definitely learn a few things. I always wanted to learn French.
Having a DVD with French audio and subtitles is a nice way to learn the language as well, but I wanted something that was specifically designed for learners who want to start from the very beginning, slowly build vocabulary, and finally get to master the language.However, this purchase was a bit of a let down. I guess for the price, I kinda pretty much figured what I was getting. Let me start off by saying that I am being very generous with my four star review. You will be stuck with nothing left to say.
I am a student. I want to fully master the language. But French is not just about knowing how to say specific phrases. The audio/book is not built in a way where you can actually give a response back or have a full blown conversation with someone and come off as a purebred Parisian that's incognito. You will pick up on a little French grammar here and there, but not enough to really understand the genders with the definite and indefinite articles and the conjugation of the verbs (Which are super important).
Ok 4 Learning Phrases, Not GREAT for Learning ACTUAL FRENCH. I study psychology. That is pretty much the extent of this CD.I thought this would be one of my more promising and rewarding purchases. Because you do learn a bit of French, but it didn't teach me French the way I had hoped it would. The iSpeak French Phrasebook only helps you if you are traveling to Paris with an American friend and you only speak to each other in English throughout the whole trip, and the only time you actually speak French, is when you want to ask some random stranger in Paris a question or statement, such as: Where is the hotel. If you want to learn a few phrases in French to impress your friends, than this CD will help you do so. I think it's a beautiful language and after all, it is one of the romance languages.
But to learn the actual language, I suggest trying Fluenz French. It only lets you propose the initial question. Where is the bus stop. If you want to learn full French and become immersed in the language, this is not the study guide to get. A bit pricey, but so worth it.
I know things happen and this is a busy season for the post office,and for a lot of sellers with amazon,I am sorry for all persons that this has happened to. I have to say that I did not recieve this product.the seller says it was shipped and united postal service lost the package. Doing business with Amazon and thier sellers for more than 6 years, I have never had a problem getting the products, I order a lot of books,tapes,cds,and video games, and never has this happened to me.This is my first unfavorable review, sorry to say, and I hope it will be the last for a long time. This was a xmas gift for my granddaughter. Will continue to look elsewhere for this item.
If you listen to a CD in the car, you can listen, but you cannot visually see the words. I bought this and loaded it onto my ipod. it's perfect because you can hear it AND you can read the spelling at the same time. Other CDs can be loaded on ipod, but i have not yet encountered one that flashes the words on the Ipod yet. I like her voice, her annunciation etc.
